Opening September 2009, HAKA will be the first premium shoppingmall, based in Rotterdam. A mix of high end retail, stylish restaurants and cultural companies will have over 10.000 square meters, to deliver a rich and complete ‘shopping’ experience.
“Premium shoppingmall HAKA is an inspirational third place community, where commerce meets culture in a world of service and uniqueness.”

Build in 1932 by architect H.F Mertens, HAKA was the first ‘concrete pumped’ building in the Netherlands. Surviving the Second World War, HAKA served from the beginning up till 1964 as trade office for the “Cooperatieve
Groothandelsvereeniging de Handelskamer (HAKA)”. A coop where labors were trained, educated and found their community. After that period offices were made inside HAKA.

Together with the world famous Concrete Architects, the HAKA concept team developed a new shoppingmall concept for this building. A platform for brands to ensure their identity; where products are unique, bold and honest; where visitors can meet, be inspired and the
level of service is the highest. Where Dutch designers mix with Italians, where the French kitchen meets the Japanese, where vintage products come alive and where a wide range of creativity finds a platform.

At HAKA, shopping is a part of the experience. Besides inspirational brands and high-end fashion presentations, there is space for restaurants, galleries, a theater and other forms of presentations.
The large roof terrace will give you a view over the only true skyline in the Netherlands and over the second largest harbor of Europe. At night this place will turn into a restaurant
and a club.

Rotterdam is in the Netherlands one of the fastest developing cities, with many large developments, such as the city center, the ‘Kop van Zuid” and the Lloydkwartier. Also the stadshavenquarter will have a total facelift in the near future. Next to HAKA the Dakpark will be build and opened soon, with over 30.000
square meters stores. The Vierhavensstraat will be widened and will be one of the main veins to the heart of the city. New public transport, housing, and working are in the plan to
upgrade the area.
